Aberdeen Angus and Hereford Crosses, reared in Coulston and aged for 21-28 days in Devizes
When we first began the process of sourcing our steaks we tried countless different suppliers from the Bath and Bristol area. We were confident we had found the best.
But then we heard about our now current butchers in Devizes. We doubted they could match our existing one, so it was a very pleasant surprise to find that they were even better.
The beef’s provenance is superb – it comes from a herd of Aberdeen Angus and Hereford crosses reared in Coulston, between Devizes and Trowbridge. Our butchers mature the meat for between 21 and 28 days – the point at which experience tells them it is at its very best. Each piece is treated individually, and checked daily. The beef has enough fat between the muscles and is marbled within to give great succulence and flavour.
Cooked with precision to perfection by Chef, the mouthwatering steaks’ last short journey is from the plate to your tum!
From authentic Italian pizza to the great British steak in three simple steps
The Herd Steak Restaurant opened its doors in July 2013, aiming to provide Bath with a unique destination restaurant that offered locally sourced award-winning steaks in a quirky and contemporary setting at the heart of the world heritage city.
Owners Timothy Coffey and Francesca Addabbo have a fine pedigree in the Bath restaurant scene. Having successfully opened The Real Italian Pizza Company, they realised there was demand for an authentic traditional Italian ristorante in Bath; and so they opened Joya Restaurant. Soon people were raving about the quality of the steaks there, and they were inspired to open a dedicated steakhouse showcasing the best of local produce.
At The Herd we believe in giving customers excellent food, prepared with fresh ingredients sourced wherever possible from local businesses, together with service that exceeds expectations in every way.
“I don’t say this lightly – it’s the best steak I’ve had in years. Quality meat, cooked with skill.”
